Event Details
This is an informational session about the Community Photography Project (CPP), a visual-storytelling program that guides registered and selected participants through the film-photography workflow. Delivered through in-person modules, the program will teach participants how to plan a photography project, operate a film camera effectively, and develop a clear creative vision.
The CPP is a three-month, six-module program. It runs June through August. This is a program with limited registration, so please make sure you can commit to all six modules. Classes are 6/12, 6/22, 7/10, 7/17, 8/21 & 8/28.
If you are interested in participating in the CPP, send an email to Peter@phlib.org with "CPP Registration" in the subject line. Provide a short explanation why you are interested in the program and your level of experience with photography.
The first module introduces key expressive elements of photography and the terminology needed to communicate a visual narrative. The second module applies composition principles to image capture, with an emphasis on mastering the exposure triangle. In the third module, participants will develop their exposed film, gaining hands-on experience with the critical roles of time, temperature, and process. The fourth module will introduce digital scanning and post-processing editing to enhance photographic skills while laying the foundation for proper digital asset management. The fifth module will focus on the art of printing, covering such topics as ratio, cropping, and color theory. The sixth module will cover the various ways in which images can be shared, including information on how to choose the correct frame and matte for your photograph, creating a photobook, and choosing the best website to host your work.
