Theresa Villani presents Bach & His Buddies, Baroque Style
This evening's program will introduce to you the music of Dall'Abaco, Suproano and Antonii along with Bach and Telemann and will be performed on Baroque cello with various bows of the period and in a historically informed style.
Although J.S. Bach’s six suites for solo cello are known world-wide, the Baroque era of music )roughly the 17th to the mid-eighteenth century) produced a wealth of beautiful and visionary works for the instrument. Italian composers, especially, were very prolific in the genre, and a number of these works are now being published and made available for cellists to perform.
Ms. Villani is one of a very few Baroque cellists and Baroque music editors in Florida. This informal program will include commentary about the music and style of playing during this period as well as affording an opportunity for audience questions.
